Part 1: Why should I develop my abilities?

This series is geared to the beginner and advanced student alike. Each month we will cover a specific of topic and answer as many questions from our readers as space allows.

First I would like to debunk any misconceptions that psychic reader's, and or healers are any different than you. They laugh, they cry, and do their best to raise both their children and their parents. They worry about the bills, and cheer on their favorites at sporting events. The only thing that makes them different is either through practice or natural god given talent they have learned to follow their instincts.

Many successful people have learned to follow their instincts or as they might say, "What feels right". We have all had times when a member of our immediate family, a friend or even ourselves was in immanent danger, by following our instinct we avoided possible injury or were able to resolve a situation before it became a crisis. As an example Thomas Magnum the lead character in the television series, Magnum P.I., is constantly talking about that little nagging voice inside his head; usually telling him that something is wrong and invariably the voice is right. You can argue that this is a scripted television series, yet at one time or another we have all heard that little voice or gotten a cold chill when making a decision or thinking of someone. We think, "Shall I buy the car", and a cold chill runs down our spine; we think should I not buy the car and the chill goes away and we feel warm. Only to find out a month later, the person who bought the car had nothing but trouble with it.

Women have throughout history been credited with "woman's intuition", especially when dealing with their children. Some business people just seem to have the Midas touch, whatever they touch turns to gold. The real truth of the matter is they shy away from projects or business investments that just don't feel right. You might hear them express "It just doesn't seem like a good investment." or "This is a good project but it just doesn't seem right for us." Granted a solid background in business and going to the school of hard knocks certainly helps, yet there are many with business degrees that are not as successful, and many with no degrees at all, that just seem to have a natural business sense.

Next are Readers, professional or amateur, the only thing that makes them different is that they have learned how to interpret their particular feelings or visions in order to help others. A good way to look at psychic abilities is to look at musicians; there are a certain number of musicians sprinkled in any given population. Some can sit down to a piano without ever seeing a sheet of music and play a tune, others must practice and practice, and yet they can both achieve the same level of expertise.

The first thing one following this path needs to do is to ascertain which is their strongest avenue. Next month we will look at Empathy one of the various methods readers, psychics, healers and ordinary people can use.
