It's All Good...

June was such a whirlwind of a month that I do apologize for not getting a newsletter out. After nearly a week in Las Vegas for an eBay convention and then a weekend at the International New Age Trade Show in Denver, I'm just now catching my breath! And yes, the ringing slot machines, night clubs, all-you-can-eat buffets, free cocktails and Elvis impersonators verses the drumming circles, om-ing sessions, chakra balancing and the presence of Doreen Virtue, JZ Knight and Steven Halpern was quite a contrast!

Strangely enough, it was in Vegas where I was profoundly struck with such a feeling of Universal Oneness, it always amuses me how the Creator puts you where you need to be. It was one of those decadent "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" weeks, some of my long held dreams came to fruition, singing with a live band at the "House of Blues" Rock Star Karaoke two nights in a row. Amazing how a cheering, dancing crowd pumping fists into the air can make you feel Universal Love, I did refrain from body-surfing the audience.

One night I had the most amazing meal at Emeril's, it actually brought tears of gratitude to my eyes. After that I made the pilgrimage to Studio 54, well, a recreation of the venue that I so wanted to visit in my secret disco past. My roommate who made the trip with me was too tired to dance, well, I certainly was not going to Studio 54 without a dance. So, I went up to a jovial stranger who appeared to be an out-of-town business man in a loud jacket, and sweetly asked if he would dance with me for $20. He was incredulous and his face lit up like a sparkler, I knew that I had just created a wonderful story for him to tell the folks back home, I'm sure I grow more beautiful with each telling! We really tore up the dance floor, and afterwards I felt no pressure in telling him "no" I was not going back to his room, I just wanted the dance...LOL!

After that, I thought I'd try my hand at some video poker, well I thought the machine must surely have been broken because it just kept paying off! I found myself exhausted at 3:00 am but still playing when a young man approached and asked a question about the shuttle bus. I felt instantly that he needed some help and direction, and not just to the shuttle bus . He sat down and we talked while I was still playing the amazingly generous machine. This young man had a gambling problem,and had just gambled away the $3000 his Dad gave him to get his car out of hock.

Suddenly I found myself seeing all the reasons for this man's problem, his wounds, his sense of unworthiness, and his sense of abandonment. So yes, here in the casino of the MGM Grand at 3:00 am I'm spiritually counseling a stranger. There were times when what I told him nearly brought tears to his ice blue eyes, and he looked quite shaken. After talking with him for about an hour he seemed to be at peace, I had hoped I had given him some tools to empower himself and better his life, it seemed like a heavy weight had lifted from his shoulders. He thanked me, he didn't know what he would have done that night. After he left I thanked Spirit for the moment, for the blessing of being there for this young man, for being the conduit of love, and of course, I was grateful for the load of money I'd just made. I'd have to say, all-and-all, it was a most joyful adventure in what some would call the "City of Sin,"...and my first vacation in ages.

Now, about the fabulous International New Age Trade Show or INATS, I brought back a lot of wonderful new treasures for Soul2Soul Treasures. Elsewhere, I stumbled across these beautiful Cave Candles and have been enjoying mine on the patio this summer, I'm sure you'll love them! The same artist makes absolutely stunning table top fountains as well .

Our featured "Do-Good" Site is The Tibet Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Tibetans improve their lives and preserve their distinct cultural, religious and national identity. Their main emphasis has been to fund health, education, community development and cultural preservation projects in Tibetan refugee settlements in India, Nepal and Bhutan, and to support rehabilitation services for the thousands of new refugees who continue to arrive from Tibet every year.

I have taken a leap and am now sponsoring a 10-year old Tibetan monk named Pema Choedak. I hope we will be able to follow his progress on Soul2Soul. Please join me in helping the people America has abandoned, a gentle, spiritual people who are now without a country.
