August 2006 Anger Management I have to tell you, I LOVE my work! Since opening the Soul2Soul Treasures shop I feel like Santa Claus everyday. Packing up and sending out all those treasures with love and joy, and receiving such great response and feedback from my wonderful customers. The healing sessions and readings I do both in my home and at the local fairs are such an honor and a joy, introducing delightful new souls into my life every week. But boy, did I have an eye-opener about myself and my egotistic need to please everybody this past week...it wasn't pretty. It involved my first ever mistake in shipping, I'd sent a larger, more expensive Moldavite pendant to a customer, not the one she'd ordered. I caught my mistake and immediately emailed her and apologized, telling her that she could either keep the larger pendant with no extra charge, or return it and I would send the right one and reimburse her for shipping. She had her heart set on the smaller pendant, so I sent it out along with a small Moldavite green silk bag as a token gift for her troubles. I asked her to email me the cost for shipping as I would reimburse it. I went on my merry, and hectically busy way believing I'd done more than enough to make things right. Then about a week later, I received another email from the customer questioning my integrity in not immediately reimbursing the shipping and suggesting that I could have slipped in some incense or bath salts for her troubles. She brought up "karma" several times in her email. I was bewildered, embarrassed...and yes, I realize now, angry. Heck, I was out 2 extra Priority Mail shipping fees and a $2.00 silk bag! I immediately sent the refund and a note of apology, even apologizing for my insignificant gift. Next thing you know I'm annoyed with the dog, short with house mate and wallowing in a "I can't do anything right I might as well give up" mode. I do have to mention that I once took comfort in reading an interview with the Dalai Lama's niece here in Colorado, she said that her uncle had a hard time dealing with his anger until he was in his 60's! Anger is an emotion I don't do well with, and it usually gets turned within. I was angry with myself for giving this stranger the power to upset me. I was angry that I wasn't speaking my truth...but trying too damn hard to be "loved" at all cost. Ego is such a baby! Then my "truth-at-all-cost" Sagittarius stellium kicked in and I wrote another note telling her of my hurt at having my integrity questioned. I know now that this woman was not out to deliberately hurt me, she's just another soul with her own host of pains and challenges. But I had forgotten one of the most important of Don Miguel Ruiz's Four Agreements:
Man...I have to remember that one and maybe have it tattoed on a body part! I have been hearing from many Lightworkers, spiritual seekers and generally kind and gentle people who are struggling with anger issues lately, as wars rage and atrocities are being committed against man and animal in this world today, it's little wonder. For many the issues are more personal. I've found that in this "classroom" of life, as we graduate into the next grade, our lessons are harder. We can usually deal with the big issues, but sometimes it's just a small "straw" that can topple the haystack. This is especially true for those who do more for others than they do for themselves. As noble as it sounds, this is ego at it's worst! There is an egotistic arrogance in believing we can fix everything, save everybody, please everyone, while not taking the time and energy to give to ourselves. Then when something goes array...BAM! Ego gets really ticked-off and that needless suffering begins! Lesson learned....again, and I hope I haven't lost a dear customer. That said, this month I have two helpful articles on anger management from teacher Charlie Badenhop. The first is about delving deeply into our feelings of anger and resentment, "Are You Able to Say Both "Yes!" and "No!"?" and the second is a practice inspired by Aikido and scientific research that can help you achieve a "peaceful victory" over anger, "Anger Management Practice: The Gift of Forgiveness." Also this month, author Jean-Claude Koven further explores the controversy surrounding "Da Vinci Code" and Jesus’s view of the divine feminine according to the Gnostic Gospels in an intriguing article, "Dismissing Da Vinci." Be sure to check out Sara's Astrological Insights column for August. Sara's available for phone readings through Soul2Soul, give her a try! Readings by Sara Beth For those of you in the Colorado region, it's that time again! The Celebrations Metaphysical Fair is this Labor Day weekend, September 1-3 at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Featuring 100's of vendors and readers, guest speakers and workshops. You can listen to the music of Twinflame and friends in the loving energy of a few thousand beautiful souls. I'll be doing readings in booth #12, and fellow Soul2Soul Reader Sara Beth Shepard will be doing her tarot/astrological readings in booth #23, and Will Jordan and his posse will be sharing information and healing at his Inner Insight Institute booth #207. Come by and say hi, we'd love to meet you! New in Soul2Soul Treasures... The new Goddess Shawls and Scarfs in silk burnout velvet are simply gorgeous, and actually won Best of Show at INATS this year. Also in Apparel, I have new sarong and caftan designs and a line of wacky Japanese T-shirts that are sure to tickle your funny bone. I've got a lot of new pendants and earrings in stock in the Jewelry section, including a few new Magic Amulet Wand Pendant designs. I've also found these stunning "Navaratna" or nine-gemstone planetary pendants and earrings. Based on Vedic astrology, these lovely treasures not only look great, but bring luck and good fortune. I've got more designs of the popular Tibetan Prayer Flags in English for you to enjoy, including garden post styles and a most appropriate Global Peace set. I must mention that the "Paint with Water" Buddha Boards I introduced last month have been so popular I'm having a hard time keeping them in stock, but I just got in these cute Mini Buddha Boards that make a great little gift.
