Happy New Year!

I want to start this year with something new... a monthly meditation, observation, message or "reminder", and today the message is "JOY".

When is the last time you felt joy? Was it from achieving a goal? Being loved? Being given a gift, or giving one? Sharing laughter with friends? A hug from a child? Watching puppies at play? Winning the lottery?

These are transient joys, as wonderful as theses joys are, they are dependent on outside influences. There is within you the power to summon joy to you anytime, anyplace, and in any circumstance.... even in the depths of despair, this joy is still within you... perhaps just a small "pilot light of bliss", but it will not be extinguished. This is your Divine Spark and the source of Love... your connection to God/Goddess/Creator.

Remember the joy of being a child, of being ALLOWED to be a child, the joy and wonder of just experiencing the world with new eyes. I learned to ride a bike at the ripe old age of 38, I'd never been allowed to ride as a child.... and I'm grateful that I was given this incredible gift of being able to see the world with the "wisdom" of an adult but with the sense of wonder and the eyes of a child. It was joyous! Learning balance, learning to trust in instinct rather than intellect. With the wind in my hair, and a sense of Oneness with all around me I remember going downhill very fast... a sense of pure joy embraced me as I closed my eyes (I am NOT recommending this..), I surrendered to Spirit... in pure joy, trust and love. This is a feeling of joy I often summon to myself in times of need or fear... this feeling of being in the hand of a Divine, Loving Being.

Practice summoning joy in full force, living in joy and happiness is a choice we make moment by moment. Sit quietly with eyes closed, empty your thoughts, connect to your feelings, feel your heart open, smile deeply and breath in the love that surrounds you, breath out JOY. Send this joy to someone who needs a booster shot of happiness or send it out to the world... the energy you send out to the world has the power to change it, and the power to change you. When you are in despair, send joy to those who are also despairing and you'll see how this joy will sustain you and embrace you even in your times of sadness and hardship.

Now, let's spread this joy around, but be sure to wear your bike helmet!

I'm still busy working on new features for the coming months and hoping to automate much of the mundane tasks involved in running this website. Unfortunately, and perhaps thanks to the Mercury Retrograde (well, I have to blame something!) I have lost some of Soul2Soul's email. My apologies to anyone who has submitted material to Soul2Soul in the past few months, please, please, please resubmit your articles or email me for submission guidelines! Thanks!
