I just spent a marvelous, healing, Memorial Day weekend in the high desert of Taos, New Mexico. That's me and my new friend "Pancho the Llama" as we hiked down Rio Grande gorge. I was lucky enough to "Take a Llama to Lunch" with Wild Earth Llama Adventures and the very knowledgeable and charming, owner/wilderness guide, Stuart who educated our small group on the various trees, plants and petroglyphs in the area and fixed us a gourmet lunch.

Pancho became ill after lunch and it took a lot of coaxing and Reiki to get him back out of the gorge... it was quite an experience Reiki-ing a llama while engaged in a steep hike, but it seemed to help the both of us.

I stayed in a charming casita with the most comfortable rented bed and a glorious view of the mountains. The folks at Adobe Abodes have several of these romantic, fully furnished, luxury abodes for rent, including one large enough for meetings and retreats, and the price was less than some B&B's in town.

A memorable side trip was taken to the small town of Chimayo nestled in the high road between Santa Fe and Taos. There I visited "El Santuario de Chimayo", called the "Lourdes of America", thousands come to this small church to partake of the healing dirt. This was an ancient place of healing and a fascinating place to visit. I had a lovely lunch at Rancho de Chimayo surrounded by roses and sunlight... great sopapillas too.

I was enchanted by the "Land of Enchantment" and hope to return soon.

I've finally contributed my own Random Thoughts this month, a rather lengthy and troubling explanation of my absence in the last few months. It was a difficult decision to go public with it, but if it can help anyone else over a difficult time, then it will be well worth it... I've called it "The Thing That Happened".
